American Community Properties Trust (ACPT) is a publicly-held company with operations in the United States and Puerto Rico. Our principal lines of business include land development, including the development of large-scale planned communities in San Juan and Southern Maryland, and property management. American Rental Management Company (ARMC) is the operating company for the assets and employees in the U.S., and Interstate General Properties L.P. is the operating company for the assets and employees in Puerto Rico.

ACPT's corporate offices are located in St. Charles, Maryland. In addition, we staff apartment management offices located in St. Charles and Germantown, Maryland, Richmond ,Virginia, and WashingtonD.C. (two sites). In addition to apartment management positions such as General Manager, leasing consultants, resident relations, collections and maintenance, our corporate office has positions in accounting, information systems, land development, land sales, public relations, human resources, office management and general administration.


Company Benefits

American Community Properties Trust, through the management company, American Rental Management Company, offers an attractive and competitive benefits package as part of the overall compensation package. The benefit plans are designed to meet the personal and family needs of our team members. Listed below is a sampling of benefits offered to full time eligible employees.

  • Group Insurance Plan - includes medical, dental, prescription, life, LTD, AD&D and short-term salary continuance. Employees share in 25% of the cost for the medical, dental and prescription coverage.
     
  •  Flexible Spending Account Plan – offers the opportunity to pay for certain health care and dependent care expenses with dollars that are not taxed.
     
  • Retirement Plan – A defined contribution 401k plan that includes an employer contribution of 5.7% of base salary up to the FICA wage base and 11.4% beyond that up to the annual compensation limit and an opportunity for employees to make a pre-tax contribution of 1-10% of their pay. Participants are vested 100% immediately.
     
  • Annual leave – employees accrue vacation time based on length of service and position within the company.
     
  • Personal illness leave – employees accrue sick leave so that they may have time off for their own illness and medical/dental appointments.
     
  • Family Care leave – takes from the personal illness accrued leave bank for those times when an employee has to care for family illness or for taking family to medical/dental appointments.
     
  • Family and Medical Leave Act – provides unpaid leave for an employee's serious health conditions and to care for family members under certain circumstances.
     
  • Holidays – the company observes the following holidays as paid time off for full-time employees: New Year's, Martin Luther King's Birthday, Inaugural Day, President's Day, Good Friday (half day), Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday following, and Christmas Day.
     
  • Christmas Bonus – for employees who meet the hours worked requirement a bonus is issued in early December.
     
  • Educational Assistance Program – provides tuition reimbursement for full-time employees with at least 6 months service who engage in self-improvement through courses that pertain to the employee's current job or job path.
